End of Year Reflection

My new learning in Math 8+ this year included factoring, quadratics and functions. In the beginning of the year, I knew very little about these concepts, but now I can easily factor quadratic equations quickly, as well as simplify exponential equations.

I really understand how different types of functions can be applied, because of different relationships between variables in linear, exponential and quadratic functions. I have also reinforced my basic skills such as order of operations by applying the when solving these problems.

Over summer break, I should practice checking my work carefully, especially when it comes to equations and inequalities, because most of my errors are a result of not checking my work thoroughly. I also should make sure to continue to review graphing functions from equations, to practice finding intercepts or solutions.

Doing homework on the day that it was assigned, but checking answers the next day was an effective way to study for me, because it kept my memory fresh and gave me more study time in the end. Also, the cumulative test review throughout the weeks really helped me prepare for the test.

To prepare for tests in highschool, I should look carefully at formative assessments and summative assessments from before to find my mistakes and stronger areas, so that I know what to focus on when I study. Cumulative review works better for me to reinforce concepts, so I will try to look over my homework and solve problems as my final exams get closer. Taking notes in class should become a habit in highschool as well.

The learning behaviours that I will focus on improving is reflection because that will be essential for studying and it will let me figure out when I should ask for help. I tend to not ask many questions, so I should do that more often when I don't understand something.
