Chemistry ~ Matter Questions

In science, we have started the new unit chemistry, so I will be answering these questions.

1. What are the three (main) states of matter?

The three main states of matter are solid, liquid and gas. 2. Explain the properties of a solid, liquid, and a gas. Talk about the movement of particles.
a. Solid – solids are forms of matter that have their own fixed shape, size and volume. Their atoms or particles are very close together, and cannot move past each other. They have a very neat and formal alignment.
b. Liquid – liquids are forms of matter that have their own size and volume, but have no fixed shape. They will assume the shape of their container. Their atoms are not as close together as a solid's would be and are not in a neat arrangement. Though close, the particles still move past each other quite easily.
c. Gas - gases are forms of matter that do not have a shape, size or specific volume. Their atoms are not close together and are rapidly moving past each other. This is definitely not a neat arrangement of atoms. 3. Changing the state of matter is a physical change. When energy (in the form of heat) is added or taken away matter can change from one state to another.
This is true. Take water for example, when you put it in a freezer, it becomes ice. Ice defines all things solid. When you heat water, it will turn to steam, which defines all things gases. You have to decrease temperate to make gas/liquid into a solid/liquid and increase temperature to make a solid/liquid into a liquid/gas.
