Fraction Comparison Reflection

Knowing many different ways to compare fractions is good. I would think it would be rather difficult to compare fractions if you only knew one way to compare them. This is because there are different kinds of questions in math. Some methods tend to be more effective than others at times. When you know many strategies, you can get things done more efficiently and faster.
Here is and example of what I mean:

6/7 to 7/8; in these two fractions, you would probably want to use cross multiplication. If you only knew reasoning (benchmarks), this would be a problem for you.

Or, 13/18 and 4/12; reasoning (benchmarks) would be quickest and easiest way to compare this pair of fractions.

Do you know the saying "horses for courses", meaning that you should choose the horse that does best in the course that you are about to do (or the other way around where you choose the perfect course for you horse), well, it is kind of the same in math. It is important that you know many ways to compare fractions because you need the right tool for the right problem.

  2. Congratulations, you used examples in our learning, you told us why we should know many ways to compare fractions, and used a old saying which related to our learning.
