Neutral Actors
You know those people who are standing, walking or doing anything in the background in a TV show? I bet that you hardly pay attention to them. That's because their jobs are to make the main character/s stand out. In drama, we were supposed to watch TV for 10 minutes and half the time, without sound so that we could focus on the neutrals. I chose the show "Lab Rats".
A few observations that I made...
- That neutral actors are sometimes just murmuring and you can barely hear them. They are just there for background noise. Occasionally, you can hear a word like "yeah!" but otherwise, not much.
- The main characters' outfits have bright and flashy colors that easily stand out since the neutral actors have mostly the same colors and are dull.
- If you pay attention, you can see that there aren't tons of neutrals and you can recognize some because they come again and again.
- The neutrals are sometimes blurred but other times in focus if they want to emphasize something, like being scared, happy or mad.
- The main characters were never on the side, but in the centre or at and angle that catches your eye.
