The Chinese Emperor
An Emperor, a Ruler, . . . a Tyrant?
The first emperor of China. Was feared by enemies. Had an iron fist policy. The not so nice military genius. Ch’in Shih Huang Ti, the first emperor of China, ran the country, but wasn’t China’s favorite.
Of course, since he made China so much bigger, was powerful and so cruel, he had many enemies. However, he didn’t fear them. China was becoming like a prison camp for many, where they got tortured and killed. Executions happened often, sometimes in slow, painful ways where they were whipped until death or parts of their body were cut off. He took in families, including young children, as slaves. He was very powerful and was well protected with guards and many weapons. Ordinary people feared him so much, enemies feared him too. Imagine how terribly they would be punished.
Ch’in Shih Huang Ti ruled with an iron fist policy. He killed his favorite son for disagreeing with him when he wanted to burn ancient books because he believed himself as the greatest god so he was always right. Adults to young children were all mistreated if someone disobeyed or did the slightest thing wrong. He would brutally murder and torture people. He believed he was the only way and no one else could interfere. Even if he had to kill.
Though cruel and merciless, he was a military genius. He built the Great Wall of China for protection and conquered many rival states. However, even though he was a military genius, that didn’t stop his cruelty. Entire families were forced to work until death on the wall. In fact, it is also a vast graveyard for the number of people who had died! China has the largest army in the world today, but in the emperor’s day, he was forcing children (luckily not really young children, the older, teenage ones) to be in the army. True, he was very good with military, but not exactly the most sympathetic or people people loving dude.
The first emperor of China had lasting impression on his country. He was very clever when protecting China and conquering states, but still was unjust to children and made the famous wall of China a graveyard as well as a famous landmark and wall of protection, he ruled with an iron fist policy where he killed his own son and was so fierce he made his enemies fill with fear. Was the first emperor of China really that great?
