Handphone Plans
The equations for each plan are...
b=bill t= text messages m= months
Plan A- b= 0.1t + 29.95m
Plan B- b= 90.2m
Plan C- 0.05t + 49.95m
Graph for One Month of Texting
a) If you send 500 text messages in one month for each of the plans, what would the costs be?
Plan A would cost $79.95, check on the graph and for the equation, it would be $50 added to $29.95 (which is $79.95).
Plan B would cost 90.20, because that's how much it costs in one month. You get unlimited text messages in this plan.
Plan C would cost $74.95. I checked on the graph, but also, the equation. It's 25 + 49.95 equals 74.95.
b) Your boss asks you to visually display three plans and compare them so you can point out the advantages of each plan to your customers.
Again, the graph shows how all three of the plans work. All three plans are okay, with their pros and cons, so will say both.
Plan A is a good plan because every month, you only have to pay around $30 for everything that comes with a phone. However, text messages are 10 cents each, which eventually pile up to cost more than Plan B and C, but that happens at around 400 texts.
Plan B is interesting, because even though you have to pay $90.20 a month, you get unlimited texting. You text as much as you want, not having to worry about the bills.
Plan C is similar to Plan A, but the texts cost less while the monthly bills are more expensive. The good side to that is you can text a lot, but it will rack up half the bill Plan A would, however, it would cost less overall around 400 texts.
c) A customer wants to decide which plan will save her the most money. Determine which plan will have the lowest costs given the number of text messages a customer is likely to send.
This depends on how many texts a customer will send. About 14 texts a day should reach 400 in a month, rendering Plan C best of all. 14 texts sounds like a reasonable amount that the average person would send, so Plan C would cost less money than all other plans. However, if this is something that is seldom used, then Plan A would be best because it is less per month. In my opinion, Plan C is best because sending 400 texts in a month actually sounds plausible for many, and it costs about $60 only, so Plan C is the most favorable.
